It didn’t take long — TikTok is entering the e-commerce space. Recent job listings indicate that the massively popular social media platform is making investments to rival others like Meta, in which e-commerce has become immensely profitable.

However, this leaves one question: Are small-business owners interested in selling through TikTok? To find out, we asked 500 entrepreneurs about where they stand on selling through this increasingly popular app.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, virtually every respondent (98%, to be exact) said they were interested in selling their products on TikTok. It makes sense, as 80% said they planned on spending more money on e-commerce, and 76% said they were planning to spend more on TikTok SEO in 2023. Fifty-nine percent said they planned to invest more in both.

But how do small-business owners feel about TikTok’s ability to rival major e-commerce platforms like Amazon? More than three-quarters of respondents (76%) said they believe TikTok will surpass the online shopping giant. And with TikTok entering the e-commerce space, it will certainly become a search engine for retail as well; 75% said they feel TikTok will actually surpass Google in this area.

Will TikTok Take Over?

In general, it seems that small-business owners are placing their bets on TikTok. Whether the platform will rival Amazon and Google remains to be seen, but it definitely has a future in the e-commerce world. TikTok is arguably the most popular social media platform at the moment, so there’s no question that it’ll continue to expand in the years to come.
